Imagine Your Story
The Lyons Public Library’s 2020 Summer Reading Program, Imagine Your Story, although different this year, is all planned out and ready for kick-off beginning July 6th.
Everyone is invited to participate in one of our three Reading Programs….Little Ones (birth to age 4) Youth (ages 5 – 12) Teens/Adults (age 13 & up). Registration begins Monday, June 22 and the Reading activities & programs start Sunday, July 5! It is FREE for everyone! There will be NO weekly prizes for reading, however, “Book bucks” will be awarded for minutes read, projects done and activities completed.
Due to the current pandemic, there will be no daily programs held at the library as we’ve done in the past. Instead we will have Grab & Go Activity Bags for everyone to come and get. There will be a different Grab & Go Bag for each week for 6 weeks, beginning July 6. The bags may include: crafts to make, writing and/or drawing projects, Bingo reading/activity boards, scavenger hunts, list challenges, different activity sheets and songs/rhymes (depending on the bag).
Themes for the 6 weeks will be: 1- Royalty,
2- Magical Creatures/Mother Goose,
3- Happily Ever After (Fantasy)/Little World,
4- Make Believe (Dragons/Fairies, etc),
5- Heroes/Timeless Tales
6- Tall Tales/Folk Tales/New Twist.
The Bags are available in 4 categories: 1- Little Ones, 2- Youth, 3- Teen/Adult and 4- Families. One bag per person for Little Ones, Youth & Teen/Adults. One bag per Family.
At the end of the program, there will be certificates, free books & prizes for all ages when participants come in at a scheduled time to “shop” for their prizes.
